I was diagnosed with anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and suicidal tendencies at age 18. I was taking every drug made for these "disorders". The drugs had side effects and some have become permanent, such as tardive dyskinisia. I also have arthritis, macular degeneration, and renal insufficiency, all related to taking psych drugs for decades.
Four years ago I started tapering off of these meds and have gotten better and better since then. I was having almost constant state of panic attacks while on benzos. Since being off of them, the panic attacks are gone. My insomnia was worse while being on ambien, because the threshold becomes higher and higher until they don't work any more.
Because of my kidneys, I can't take anything except meds for hypertension, which is controlled.
I would like to help others find a way to get off of psych meds and find out who they really are, underneath that label of "mentally ill."
