About elevated blood pressure

Blood pressure is determined by the amount of blood the heart pumps and the amount of resistance to blood flow in the arteries. Blood pressure is considered high when the systolic (upper number) reading is consistently greater than 140 or when diastolic (lower number) is consistently 90 or greater.
