nvpioneer1950 updated the condition Breast Cancer

    • First symptom: ?
    • Diagnosis: November 2009

Diagnosed in November of 2009, my breast cancer was stage 0 but grade 3, which was aggressive. I opted for a bilateral mastectomy due to family history. I was offered the option of a lumpectomy (with a 45% prognosis that the cancer would return) and felt with MS and family history, I wanted to be as far down the road to remission as possible, not wanting to wait for the possibility of cancer returning, having to have additional surgeries, and most likely ending up with a mastectomy in the end. At one point, one of my doctors said i would have to go off the inteferon I was on at the time as there was a "possible" link between breast cancer and that particular MS treatment - more mis-information. I was accidentally overdosed with pain meds while recovering in the hospital, causing me unnecessary trauma which still rears its ugly head, 5 years later. The mastectomy and reconstruction have their own set of challenges; the brain trauma from the overdose was an added setback.

    nvpioneer1950 evaluated Baclofen from

    • StartedJun 1, 2011
    • Dosage30 mg Daily
    • Effectiveness Moderate (for Multiple Sclerosis)
    • Side effects Mild
    • Adherence Always
    • Burden Not at all hard to take
    • Cost< $25 monthly
    • Advice & TipsI was on Baclofen for a year and a half. I didn't think it was working and I wanted to started eliminating some of the prescriptions I'm on so over a month, i weaned myself off of it. Within 3 days, horrendous lag and calf cramps started, severe enough to wake me up in the middle of the night. I tried tonic water, increased my stretching - all to no avail. At my next neurologist's appointment, I got a new prescription and within 2 days the cramps were reduced to manageable.
