Sheehan syndrome is as an excessive bleeding disorder that occurs during childbirth. The bleeding deprives the body of oxygen and may lead to tissue death and loss of function of the pituitary gland; this results in permanent underproduction of pituitary hormones (Postpartum hypopituitarism).
