What is pattern macular dystrophy?
Pattern macular dystrophy is a genetic disorder that affects the macula (area of the retina that is responsible for sharp central vision) of the eye. A buildup of lipofuscin (fatty yellow pigment) damages the macula cells and causes visual disturbances.
