What is clinically isolated syndrome?

Clinically isolated syndrome describes a first neurological episode caused by inflammation or demyelination of nerve tissue. It is characterized by symptoms resembling multiple sclerosis that last for at least 24 hours in someone who has not been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
