What is depersonalization disorder?

Depersonalization disorder is marked by periods of feeling disconnected or detached from one’s body and thoughts. It is sometimes described as feeling like being in a dream or observing one's body from the outside. People with this disorder realize that things are not as they appear.

Reports may be affected by other conditions and/or medication side effects. We ask about general symptoms (anxious mood, depressed mood, fatigue, pain, and stress) regardless of condition.
