What is carcinoid tumor?

A carcinoid tumor is a type of neuroendocrine tumor, which means it starts in cells of the neuroendocrine system that make hormones. They most often originate in the gastrointestinal tract and lungs, but may also originate in the pancreas, testicles or ovaries.
