What is secondary adrenocortical deficiency?
Secondary adrenal insufficiency is adrenal hypofunction due to a lack of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). It occurs in patients with pituitary or hypothalamic involvement. This results in decreased ACTH secretion, which ultimately results in adrenal failure.
