What is metabolic syndrome?

Metabolic syndrome is defined as the presence of any three of the following: insulin resistance, elevated fasting blood sugar levels, elevated blood pressure, elevated triglycerides and cholesterol levels and excessive weight in the abdominal area and is a risk factor for developing Type 2 Diabetes.
