What is Disseminated Histoplasmosis?

Histoplasmosis is a disease caused when airborne spores of the fungus Histoplasma capsulatum are inhaled into the lungs. The most severe form is disseminated histoplasmosis, this can affect all areas of the body, and if untreated can be fatal.
