What is abdominal muscle tear?

The abdominal muscles are located just below the ribs and above the pelvic bone. An injury to the muscle may occur from heavy lifting, strenuous exercise, or trauma. An abdominal muscle tear is characterized as an overstretching or tearing of the muscle.
