What is periventricular leukomalacia?

Periventricular leukomalacia is a condition characterized as damage to the white matter of the brain, specifically around fluid-filled areas called ventricles. The damage to the brain can cause motor disorders, delayed mental development, coordination problems, and vision and hearing impairments.
