What is vocal cord polyps?

Vocal cord polyps are noncancerous growths that can develop over time on the vocal cords, possibly as a result of overuse. With continued overuse, these polyps may progress into harder, callous-like growths known as nodules. However, with lessened use of the vocal cords they may go away over time.
