What is heterotaxy with polysplenia?

Heterotaxy syndrome is characterized as a birth defect of the heart and other organs. The root term hetero means “other or different” and the end -taxy means “arrangement.” Polysplenia associated with Heterotaxy syndrome is the presence of several small spleens.
