What is superior vena cava syndrome?

Superior vena cava syndrome occurs when there is a partial blockage of the superior vena cava. The superior vena cava is the vein that moves blood from the upper half of the body to the heart. Some symptoms include shortness of breath, coughing, and swelling in the upper body.
