What is Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1 (PAI-1)?

Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1 is a major inhibitor of fibrinolysis, a normal body process,it keeps blood clots from forming & causing problems.If the amount of PAI-1 is high, the ability of the body to break up clots is decreased which increases the risk of stroke & other blood vessel disorders.
