What is gastrointestinal pseudo obstruction?

Intestinal pseudo-obstruction is a rare condition with symptoms like those caused by a bowel obstruction but after examination no blockage is found. It may be present at birth and become chronic in children. It may also develop in adults when the colon becomes enlarged after surgery or illness.
