Dr.

I am scientist researching quality of life technologies - in particular mobile computing and communications technologies. I am leading a research group at University of Geneva, Switzerland.

I would like to connect to PatientsLikeMe community to understand better if/how the individuals use and experience their smartphone and its applications and services for own health and care benefits.  We have a weak understanding of factors influencing of usage of smartphone for own health benefits, as  much of the research has takes place in the controlled lab environments so far. I would like to study PatientsLikeMe user's experience in their daily life environments, By studying this, I hope to create guidelines to help designers of these smartphones applications  to provide stress-free experience.

I'm trying to revolutionize biomedical research by building knowledge engineering systems. I run a group at USC's Information Sciences Institute (http://bmkeg.isi.edu) and am primarily interested in collaborating with researchers through PatientsLikeMe. Our goal is to develop software that makes scientific knowledge more accessible to scientists, and would be very interested in developing new ways of connecting and communicating with non-scientists. Our primary clinical focus at present are neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimers and Parkinsons disease, but our approaches are intended to be applicable to deal with scientific knowledge in general. I also write a blog called 'Building a Breakthrough Machine': http://breakthroughmachines.blogspot.com .
