What is Light Box?

An example of Light Box

Exposure to bright light from a SAD light therapy box is thought to alter your circadian rhythms and suppress your body's natural release of melatonin. Together, these cause biochemical changes in your brain that help reduce or control symptoms of seasonal affective disorder and other conditions.

Advice & Tips
I didn't realize how much winter was depressing me until my husband bought me my full-spectrum SAD light. I sit in front of it 30 minute a day while I mediate, and it helps my mood almost immediately. While the one I got was pricey ($300), there are smaller, "travel" sized ones that are less expensive. Be sure to get those specifically full-spectrum for SAD conditions.

Advice & Tips
don't expect results overnight--it takes time for unit to start helping just as taking an anti-depressant takes a bit of time before there is a changeable difference
