What is Docusate?
Docusate is a stool softener that does not hold water like some bulking agents nor does it stimulate the bowel like laxatives. It is used in the treatment of constipation. It is available as capsule, liquid or enema. When sold as Colace it is docusate sodium vs. docusate calcium preparation.
