Methylcobalamin is an old form of B12 that easily crosses the Blood Brain Barrier. In low doses it is believed to strengthen the myelin sheath of nerve axons by sharing its methyl groups. Recently, it has been found to have anti-apoptotic properties but only at very high doses.
