What is Vitex agnus-castus? Vitex agnus-castus is the Latin name for the herb also commonly called Monks Pepper, chasteberry and vitex. It acts as a stimulate for the pituitary gland to produce more progesterone and less prolactin. It does not contain hormones, but only stimulates the pituitary gland.
