Clarithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria and is used to treat certain infections caused by bacteria, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and infections of the ears, sinuses, skin, and throat. Also used to treat MAC, a type of lung infection occuring in HIV.
