What is Propylthiouracil?

Propylthiouracil is an antithyroid agent, a thioamide. It is used as a palliative treatment of hyperthyroidism as an adjunct to ameliorate hyperthyroidism in preparation for surgical treatment or radioactive iodine therapy and for the management of thyrotoxic crisis.
