What is Blue Green Algae?

The two main blue-green algae types are Spirulina and Aphanizomenon flos-aquae (AFA). It contains small amounts of protein, vitamins, beta carotene, and some minerals but in negligible amounts. Some products harvested from natural settings in lakes have been found to contain contaminants.
