I still take this in the fall (when the days are just starting to get short) like the end of August. I then stop in March. I have used Nuvigil or Provigil. If I decrease dose, i am sleepy during day. If i maintain does, it is very easy to stay up until 1am.

I liked Provigil. It counteracted the sleepiness from Cymbalta prescribed by the psychatrist, but the dosage wasn't enough for sleepiness from Mirapex prescribed by the neurologist. Medco wouldn't up my dosage.

This works. My Rx ran out, then Medco wouldn't allow me300mg/day. then the dr. subscribes a new drug Nuvigil for250g/day. Note that Provigil will go generic soon, and the cost will decrease.

Without this medication, I sleep on & off all day, and I am constantly weak & tired. I don't feel like doing anything. My insurance company stopped paying for it for 1 month while I appealed their decision. I won the appeal and I thank God I was able to take it again.

Got my life back. When combined with SSRI's was by far the best treatment for depression I have ever seen. It should be considered for trials for depression.....

Life with out Modafinil is very ordinary. I was first diagnosed with depression two year before having a sleep study and OSA and somnolence was discovered. I wonder now if the depression was just a result of these two conditions. I am on 150mg of Setraline for the depression and since being on both that and 200mg of modafinil, I have my life back. I once could not walk past the bed and not want to get in. I often fell aslep if I lay down on the floor to play with my children. I was a zombie. Great drug. Worth every cent for my issues.

It was easy. It did not keep me from sleeping but it helped keep me awake during the day. No side effects. When my insurance stopped paying, I had to re-do other meds that were sedating. Provigil was necessary but insufficient to keep me awake.

Provigil worked wonderfully WITH admantadine... my insurance refused to pay for it anymore. My neuro introduced me to Nuvigil and it's been great!

Take it early in the morning, don't go much past 10am or it can cause insomnia. If it causes insomnia at 200mg, go to 100mg dose and see how it goes with the half does for starters. It may build up in the system so that later down the road you may have to increase it.
