  • Perceived effectiveness for Multiple Sclerosis: Moderate
  • Side Effects: Moderate
  • Adherence: Usually
  • Burden: Somewhat
Dosage: 44 mcg/0.5 mL Weekly
Advice & Tips: Make sure you drink A LOT of water. Even with all that water I would still take ibuprofen before going to bed to try and avoid the flu like symptoms. Most of the rime this would work but not always.

Jul 15, 2013 (Started Dec 10, 2010)

  • Perceived effectiveness for Multiple Sclerosis: Moderate
  • Side Effects: Moderate
  • Adherence: Always
  • Burden: Somewhat
Dosage: 44 mcg/0.5 mL M,W,F
Advice & Tips: My flu-like symptoms gradually increased in severity and frequency over time. My neurologist advised me that I was likely developing antibodies to the therapy, which is a common cause of worsening side effects. I was suffering prolonged symptoms that made daily tasks difficult, and also increased my fatigue level.

  • Perceived effectiveness for Multiple Sclerosis: None
  • Side Effects: Moderate
  • Adherence: Always
  • Burden: Not at all
Dosage: 44 mg 3 times a week
Advice & Tips: I took REBIF for 4.5 years. I found that a T, Th, and S regimen worked best, allowing a day yo regroup for the work week. I have found that my fatigue and depression increased on the medication. After more MRI changes, me neuro is now switching me to Tysabri.
Cost: $25-49 monthly
Side effects: Chills/fever, Injection site redness, Generalized muscle aches, Injection site reaction, Fatigue

Oct 15, 2009 (Started Dec 26, 2006)

  • Perceived effectiveness for Multiple Sclerosis: Major
  • Side Effects: Moderate
  • Adherence: Always
  • Burden: Not at all
Dosage: 44 mg 3 times a week
Advice & Tips: My initial use of Rebif was a T-TH-S regimen. I found that I had extreme fatigue each Monday morning while adhering to that schedule. I switched to M-W-F shots, early in the evening, and found that using the week-end to "recover" from the injections allowed me to feel much better on Monday mornings. I added Amantadine (200 mg) daily, and with the combination of the two, feel that the overall changes have helped significantly. Tylenol-Extra Strength in the evenings seems to help battle the side effects from the shots.
Side effects: Chills/fever, Injection site redness, Generalized muscle aches, Injection site reaction, Fatigue

Jul 20, 2010 (Started Sep 15, 2009)

  • Perceived effectiveness for Multiple Sclerosis: Can’t tell
  • Side Effects: Moderate
  • Adherence: Usually
  • Burden: A little
Dosage: 22 mcg/0.5 mL 3 times a week
Advice & Tips: I sometimes have trouble always taking as prescribed, my side affects are nausea, fatigue, and excessive soreness and redness near site of injection, ice pack and massage before or after injecting did not help at all. Had to reduce setting on injecter to two instead of 3, it decreased rashes and excessive bruising-which is a big plus. when I take my medication, it makes me unable to function for the next day--so useless 1/2 the week.
Cost: $50-99 monthly
