carried a fold-up one in my purse, but rarely needed it. pushing a store cart worked well. finally decided it was too heavy to carry all the time,to rarely use.

I grew to love my stick. I also love my stick more when she is hanging in my closet and not in my hand. If you need one, get the very best you can afford. Fashionable Canes in England has a bunch with ergonomic handles that make the pressure on your hands less of an issue. They are also pretty and strong. You quickly become used to having it in your hands, it becomes a part of you. So much so that I once whacked my nephew with mine without thinking. He was a lot more polite after that!
