Advice & Tips: This was the not the first attempt to find the cause (or cure) of my iron-deficient anemia. The first attempt was to do the hysterectomy, the second attempt was diagnosis of a large, bleeding, gastric ulcer, and this transfusion was done (I believe) after the mastectomy. The doctor said, "You were anemic before the surgery, you sure as hell need a transfusion now!"
