I take this medication 5 times a day (2 pills every 4 hours). when I occasionally forgot a dosage, I was well reminded by muscle twitching to the point of discomfort before my next dosage was due.
I find it only slightly problematic taking this every morning. I would suffer greatly without it so that is an incentive. I despise taking medicines & have streamlined my medication regimen as much as I dare, but this med is a basic & absolutely necessary one for me.

Advice & Tips
Save this medicine for the time when you really need it, i.e. when the more benign dopamine agonists no longer work because it can cause dreadful nausea & syncope. I spent more than 2 years experimenting with the dose to find what would give me the greatest benefit with the least unpleasant side effect.

Dosing: I adhere to a STRICT timing schedule - I have a timer alarm on my Blackberry set for 5am, 8am, 11am 2pm, 5pm, 8pm. If I forget or am late taking the dose I'm screwed up for the rest of the day. Without carbidopa-levodopa I am useless - my entire left side is frozen stiff with muscle cramps.

At my Sept 13, 2010 appointment, my neurologist noticed I was having some dyskinesias. So I decided to reduce my dosage of sinemet CR from three per day to one per day. I take two sinemet, plus one Comtan, three times daily. The first dose of the day, I also take one sinemet CR. As of Jan 3, 2011 I usually am on most of the day (starting about half an hour after my first dose), until 7 or 8 PM.

I do take Motilium 20 minutes prior to taking the Carbilev 25/250. I works well and I have not been nauseous at all as was the case in December when I took only the Carbilev 25/100. Side effects were very bad. Now I feel wonderful - tremors totally under control.

Advice & Tips
Because of the severe side-effects (nausea, palpitations, dizziness) and the fact that the tremors stayed the same I weaned myself and decided to research all the natural possibilities.

Advice & Tips
Was taken off Requip XL (edema and sleeping problems). The first week taking Carbilev was terrible, half 3 x pd 25/100. I really felt so blah! Nauseous, heart racing, teary etc. Then I decided to not give up, but go on: 1, and half 2 x. After another week I realised that although there were no side-effects, there was also no difference in the tremors. That was when I decided to go off Carbilev. My neurologist is away on holiday, and I'm trying this by myself. My hubby and kids feel I'm doing the right thing - sure they hope that this will indicate that PD was wrongly diagnosed (of course so do I). But what next - do I share with her (Dr), do I wait and see whether I progress or retrogress. Muscles slightly stiff, right hand and leg tremor not worse and they listen when I "speak" to them.
