I've found that taking Cipralex (Escitalopram) makes it more difficult for me to think about one thing for prolonged periods of time. This might be a good thing in some instances - once I missed a dose and found myself unable to let a topic go for a good twenty minutes. But it is annoying to have your train of thought constantly "leave the tracks".
Everyone is different, but I personally don't find Cipralex to be effective. It primarily just increases my side-effects. It is possible that it is keeping my obsessions at bay, however. While not the most difficult SSRI to get off of, doing so can be very uncomfortable (shakes, sweats) and it might be too much trouble for some.
I decided to continue the 5mg dosage and still take that today.

Advice & Tips
I started at 5mg and tolerated the medication well. After increasing to 10mg daily my mood improved noticably but I experienced anorgasmia (inability to climax during sex). Once my Psy.D. decreased the dosage back to 5mg the side effect went away but my mood decreased.
I am still using samples until my doctor and I decide wheether to continue the course with Lexapro.
The Lexapro hasn't curtailed my desire just my ability to easily achieve orgasm. Since my loss of job I've had to discontinue treatment and noticed an immediate return of ability.
