Given what I've seen reported I get the impression I've been lucky not to have more severe side effects. The increase in energy is something I enjoy though I do see how it could be addictive. It got me out of a bad place so I'm fond of it, but it's not perfect of course.
Unexpected benefit: large doses of prednisone both oral and ophthalmic create an amazing sense of 'can do anythingness!' - unfortunately the inability to focus on one thing for a beneficial length of time (beyond 10 seconds) is seldom. So little gets done while on prednisone.
Impact: pretty much has made me unemployable on every occasion I've taken it. Because my symptoms worsen considerably after starting Pred Forte I end up being prescribed considerably more of the drug until my body gives in and the inflammatory condition ceases. Each occasion has been acute/severe though ongoing chronic low level swelling is now normal for me.
Ongoing chatter in my head, dizziness, aggressiveness, weight loss, bone and muscle loss, sweating a lot, inability to judge spacially, or more importantly an inability to understand how what is being said (between two people) may be understood by the other person. massive inability to cope with people for longer than an hour - so i usually go to another person so that not too many people will think I'm crazy. Feeling crazy - very crazy and wondering when it will stop. Sleepiness at any given time of day, then an inability to sleep at night. Racing heartbeat - difficulty with exercise but a definite need to persist with exercise.
Intake: includes Apo-prednisone 5mg (80mg going down to 50mg then off) accompanied with Pred Forte every 15 minutes in the left eye, Cyclogyl 1% 4 times daily down to one; and a gewy gel before bedtime, maxidex.
