It participated in the drug trial for this medicine and it helps with my speech somewhat. It also helps with depression and mood swings, so I do not have to take other medicines for depression, anxiety etc.

I experienced an added benefit in that it seems to make it easier to push the words out when I speak. This makes it a little easier for people to understand me.

My doctor wants me to have an EKG and bloodwork done every few months because Quinidine is a heart drug that has been around for years, and he wants to keep an eye out for side effects.

It did not seem to work for me, and also it made me so sleepy that I was sometimes sleeping for 15 hours a day.

I participated in a clinical drug trial at the ALS clinic at UCSF. The purpose of the study was to help with uncontrollable laughter and crying. Of the 3 blind trial dosages available (Full strength, half strength, and placebo), I conjectured that I received the half strength pill. With the trial over now, I have chosen to continue with the study on an open label basis, which guarantees that I receive the full strength dose. My laughing/crying symptoms have markedly decreased in the second phase (with the real drug).
