Since the addition of Azilect 1mg, I have been able to lower my Stalevo dosing again. I now take Stalevo 100mg every 4 hours instead of every 3 1/2. Stalevo & Azilect have been a dream come true for me. My mobility has increased, and my dosage has gone down. What more could anyone ask for?!!!!

I take Stalevo 100mg every 3 1/2 hours throughout the day which adds up to normally 500-600mg a day. I was taking Stalevo 150mg 4 times a day, but after getting some "wearing off" effects, my doctor added Azilect 1mg in the am and dropped my Stalevo down to 100mg every 3 1/2 hours. Now, I can normally go 3 1/2 hours without feeling the "wearing off" effect. Sometimes, I can push it to 4 hours, but under doctor's orders, I take it every 3 1/2 hours to keep the stability of being "on".

Stalevo was the first drug that I could tolerate in my first two years after my PD diagnosis. My neurologist and gastroenterologist worked together to find out why, trying Mirapex twice and Requip twice, that I would get severe abdominal pain, vomiting, dry heaves & migraines after titrating up to the six week point; then wound up in the hospital twice. I spent the first two years like this to the point that I lost 35 pounds in a year taking me down to 105 lbs. and could barely get out of bed. My doctor was waiting for the release of Stalevo, thinking it would be the only drug that I could tolerate at this point. I started taking 50mg and titrated to 150mg four times a day. It gave me my life back again. I finally started to feel better.
