Since the addition of Azilect 1mg, I have been able to lower my Stalevo dosing again. I now take Stalevo 100mg every 4 hours instead of every 3 1/2. Stalevo & Azilect have been a dream come true for me. My mobility has increased, and my dosage has gone down. What more could anyone ask for?!!!!

I take Stalevo 100mg every 3 1/2 hours throughout the day which adds up to normally 500-600mg a day. I was taking Stalevo 150mg 4 times a day, but after getting some "wearing off" effects, my doctor added Azilect 1mg in the am and dropped my Stalevo down to 100mg every 3 1/2 hours. Now, I can normally go 3 1/2 hours without feeling the "wearing off" effect. Sometimes, I can push it to 4 hours, but under doctor's orders, I take it every 3 1/2 hours to keep the stability of being "on".

Stalevo was the first drug that I could tolerate in my first two years after my PD diagnosis. My neurologist and gastroenterologist worked together to find out why, trying Mirapex twice and Requip twice, that I would get severe abdominal pain, vomiting, dry heaves & migraines after titrating up to the six week point; then wound up in the hospital twice. I spent the first two years like this to the point that I lost 35 pounds in a year taking me down to 105 lbs. and could barely get out of bed. My doctor was waiting for the release of Stalevo, thinking it would be the only drug that I could tolerate at this point. I started taking 50mg and titrated to 150mg four times a day. It gave me my life back again. I finally started to feel better.

I think taking Stavelo in conjunction with Azilect is working very well for me. I'm just not sure whether the other symptoms I have are due to the progression of PD or if they are side effects.

I think it is very effective. If you forget to take them, the tremors start quicker and the foot cramps can be quite severe at times. NOTE: Regarding the cost below: I live in Canada and as such our system covers approx 75% of all medications.

I am not quite sure, but I think numbness in the feet and ankles hasw been affected. To be re-evluated this week. (PS. For mthose in the US, our govt pays a good portion if we do not have Ins. Normalyy it would be appx.$550.00)

It makes the symptons of Parkinson go away and gives one a whole new lease on life. I had it with chemo treatment and for four years thought it was the chemo and arthristis and spinal stenosis, etc., stalevo made all the side effects go away. I pray it doesn't wear off or I become conditioned to it. At 76 now it really doesn't matter, but sure has made my life so much better.

Longer lasting then the PARCOPA but much slower to take effect. About 45minutres to an hour. But last up to 3hours where the PARCOPA lasts only an hour or a little more.

At this time the side effects (loss of appetite, dizzyness and drymouth) outweighed the benefits (better arm swing and reduction of leg tremor). I will wait until the benefits are greater. I am doing well with structured exercise classes specifically designed for PD patients.

I had a very positive experience with this treatment. The reason I am off this medication is that I am starting a clinical trial and need to stay on sinemet. I am not doing as well as I was when I was taking Stalevo plus Sinemet. Walking, cramps on my right calf and foot to the point I cannot take a step without pain

Some not all of my symptons are improved. Worth the change for me. Better balance, easier to manover in bed, generally feel better. Has not helped my right leg as far as walking goes.

I noticed after a week or so that I was feeling better.Improvements in walking, balance, and stifness. Easyier to manover in bed. Very pleased with Stalevo and hope the improvements last.

Stalevo is strong, yet one has to not overdo it. That's what I think I did. Taking Madopar HBS starts less strong so I expect less shaking legs, and stays longer in the blood, so I expect to have less trouble in the night.
