Advice & Tips
Always take as prescribed. Since this a timed-released medication, DO NOT crush. If you find that it isn't working as well as it did when you first started taking it, then let your doctor know. It may have to be increased or the doctor can add Oxy IR to it for breakthrough pain. That's another medication I take. Same thing, just 5 mg. and instant release instead of timed-released.
The only side effect I get is the chronic constipation. But that's to be expected since it is a narcotic. I take 3-4 capfuls a day of Miralax to prevent this, throughout the day, mixed in coffee, water, etc. Works wonders.
Taking this medication gave me my life back. Prior to taking it, I was in and out of the emergency room with severe pain. I still get the sharp shooting pain in my low back each day, but not nearly as aften as I used to. It has also helped the Fibromyalgia pain. My body does not ache as much as it used to. When I get up in the morning, I'm in a LOT of pain. I take my meds, wait an hour or so, and then I start moving. Within 2 hours I get on with my day.
Just be honest with your doctor.........
I began taking this drug because my son recommended it. It greatly helped my energy and appetite, at first, but after 4 months it no longer did. For some reason hospice is keeping me on it.
Sometimes I feel so tired, that I tend to fall asleep during the day! At night I become so wired that I cannot sleep, but during the day I will be sitting at the PC, or watching TV, and then wham! A few minutes later I wake up with almost o clue how long I've been asleep...
In fact I've fallen asleep six times since I started writing this, and each time I awaken I ask this question, "IF I'm suddenly falling alseep all the time without any reason --- is the dose I'm on too strong?"
The last time I increased my dosage was before I restarted my Enbrel started to work, and I'm thinking that maybe it's time to decrease my dosage again

Advice & Tips
I still have not found the right dosage. I feel I need to go a little stronger as far as that goes. I have noticed increased sweating, extreme dry mouth and constipation. I take MIRALAX every morning now, mixed in my coffee and that has really helped with the constipation. I also noticed that I need to increase amount of dosage and frequency about every six months. BUT, it sure has taken the edge off the pain. I took 750 mg. of Vicodin, 2 at a time, for almost six months and it wasn't working.
when it worked, it worked well, my body built a tolorance to it. that's not saying that it wouldn't work for someone. all our bodies are diffrent, what works for some, may not work for others.
