My 5 day Solumedrol treatment at the end of May, failed to improve the physical fatigue of my limbs. It was still an effort to move. I asked the Dr., thinking that my problem was mostly sensory, if something that blocks sensation (pain) would help. It has helped quite a bit. Though I want to stop after one week & see if I am ok withouut it. Not one I care to add to the daily regimen.

Because of other conditions (lupus, fibromyalgia), post-surgical pain takes at least three times longer to subside for me. This has often been a problem with doctors who are freaked out about addiction. I have NO history of addiction to anything except tobacco, but this seldom makes a difference. I get really tired of trying to convince these people that I AM IN PAIN STILL. Fear of the return of worse pain can make me very upset, which doesn't help. Still, even when I'm calm about it, I still hit the wall of their Fear of Addiction. Pain management still has a long way to go in the medical profession. I have never had a problem tapering off endocet/oxycodone as the pain lessens and subsides.

Started taking in 2005 not long after I had a spinal tap that was horrible. In 2011 I was up to 6 a day at 20 mg. Wasn't working as good. Doctor wanted me on Oxycontin but insurance [medicare] refused to cover it. The only option available was Methadone which I did not want to be on. A note : Oxycontin is now illegal in Canada. I got my yearly prescription coverage book from my insurance and was amazed to see that as of 2013 Oxycontin will now be covered. Corrupt system we have. Medicare is bad. We need a universal healthcare system. As soon as I was forced on medicare things got even more complicated. Doctors told me they could no longer see me. I was treated like trash. My husbands mother is retired now and she is being treated the same why. We shouldn't be afraid to go to the doctor.
