Advice & Tips: The Flonase nasal spray is only effective for stuffiness within the nose itself, it does nothing for any sinus congestion you have and even one additional squirt of it always gives me a nose bleed the next day. I'm happy the Astelin nasal spray provides very effective sinus congestion relief and the generic (Azelastine HCI) is as effective as the brand name drug.

Advice & Tips: it works well for me. It takes a month to take effect. I started it with Flonase and I only took it during my bad allergy season. The doctor advised taking Flonase all year but I didn't want to take more drugs then absolutely necessary. Being off Flonase has been okay (I did and still do take my other med). When allergy season is upon me, I have a harder time breathing but can deal with it... I took a month break from the meds just to see what it would be like. I had a lot of side effects and noticed being off it right away b/c my wheezing came back quickly...

Advice & Tips: This really helps dry up my (admittedly mild) nasal allergy symptoms; it's not too hard to take two sniffs in each nostril every morning... I find that if I start taking it a few days before I expect to be outside a lot (or in another allergy-stimulating situation), it's more effective.
