I took the drug faithfully for ten years. Then I switched to the once a month Boniva and I had a difficult time remembering it. So the following year I asked my Dr. to put me back on fosamax. It was generic this time and it upset my stomach so I stopped in Dec 2010. I can't say that I feel any different. I haven't broken any bones yet so, I'm happy. 1 haven't had a bone density scan or told my Dr. that i have stopped the drug.

I put all my medication in boxes. Wed is my Avonex shot day. It is also a once a week madecation. So I have made Fosomax my other once a wwk medication.I have marked my A.M. Wed boxes with the Fosomax stickers that come with the medication. I have added bone Density since I have started this medication & I haven't broken a bone since!

At my follow-up appt. for my 1 yr. biopsy they reported that my osteoporosis had made a great improvement over the past year. My hip area got slightly worse, and that is the focus of my next treatment program. My lumbar and all ather signs of improvement were amazing.

It is a weekly tablet to be taken at the same time of day with only a glass of water 1st thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything else. It is difficult for me to remember to do that so I have to set it out the night before with an empty glass at the table...

This treatment is very caustic to the stomach and I developed irritable and very bad stomach problems and had to be taken off the medication.

I developed knee pain in both knees. MD suggested that I go off the Fosamax until he can evaluate via lab tests. Hasn't been done yet.
