GET AN RX CARD ONLINE and go to Walmart IF you have to take this. It is very expensive, but the RX card saved me $50 on a $70 prescription. That is A LOT of money off. Print some out and find one that works.
I have read many horrible reviews online about this medication. I gave it a month, and though this medication made me super productive (I deal with depression), I felt like I was drunk or tipsy the ENTIRE time I was on it. I was either super productive or reading to bang my head into a ball. I was suicidal and could have walked off a 10 story building and not cared.
I would not recommend this medication unless it really is necessary and you have no other option. It seems like a lot of people have had horrible side effects and even when I told a nurse she looked at me like they were things that were okay to deal with. WHAT?!
I felt drugged up the entire time and when I would get tired I would start falling over. I would get so exhausted I would HAVE to sleep, no matter where I was. I am a very light sleeper and can never sleep anywhere without my music and pillow. I fell asleep at a club with loud music playing and people everywhere. That's how drugged up and exhausted this medication made me feel. It wasn't until I accidentally forgot to take a dose and felt "normal" and not drugged up that I realized how bad it was. I "almost" thought it was worth being so productive, although I could never work a job like that. When I say productive, I mean motivated to do things. It did help with my anxiety, but I think that's because the medication made me not care about anything, even myself. I could have been on the verge of dying and not cared.
I was put on this medication because I had ONE grand mal seizure that was mainly caused from taking Paxil ONE. TIME. If you need it and it works for you, then great, but if you're having problems like this or are sensitive to medications and side effects like I am... please reconsider taking it.
THE XR IS THE BEST THE KEPPRA IS THE BEST. THE MAIL ORDER SENT ME THE GENERIC THE OTHER WEEK AND I TRIED IT AND I NOTICED SEIZURE ACTIVITY THAT DAY.
SWALLOWING AND NAUSEA IS MY BIGGEST ISSUE BUT THE SEIZURES ARE A LOT BETTER!

I take Keppra because I originally started out on Dilantin which hit my liver hard the minute I started taking it. Although Keppra is VERY good at keeping the grand mals away, I have very little time that I feel energetic.

Advice & Tips
While Keppra seems to do a very good job of stopping grand mals in their tracks, I still have quite frequent absence seizures, visual auras, olfactory auras (more often than visual) and serious memory issues. On top of all that, I have fits of rage out of nowhere that can last for up to several hours in which case I stay in my bedroom away from the rest of the family. Even though I have been taking Keppra for years, it STILL makes me groggy, especially if I have to take pain killers of any kind. I have also recently noticed having some problems with things tasting wrong, if not totally disgusting. Foods that I normally love taste gross. I have also lost a lot of hair since I started taking Keppra, but I have to admit it could possibly just be coincidental that I am 52 and just thinning out due to age.

Advice & Tips
Even though Keppra has worked much better than Dilantin or Topomax, it still makes me tired much of the day and I sometimes have rage issues that are hard to deal with. Oh, and my hair has thinned out since I started taking it, but then again I am 52 and I guess that might be due to aging. =/
