I usually get a huge burst of energy the day after my B12 shot. So anything that needs to be done is usually saved for that day. I DO have to have someone else administer the weekly injection as it's too difficult to inject into my own arm and it has to be injected slowly because it's a thick liquid. Take advil beforehand because there is usually discomfort in the injection site for a few hours.

Hated giving myself shots. Blood tests are showing my levels are staying in the normal range, so we are just watching them to make sure they don't drop again.

I am currently on a break from the B12 shots so we can see if I need to keep taking them. After my next blood test we will see if my levels are dropping and if they aren't I will be able to stop this treatment and just follow up with yearly blood tests.

I haven't noticed a difference but my blood test show my level is higher. I have to stop taking it for 3 months and get tested again to see if it has really made a change.

I definitely think the B-12 injection is worth the effort. The county nurse came to the house once a month for a year or so, but that didn't seem to be enough. The family practice doctor recommended every other week and that seemed to give me the energy I needed. I am able to keep going during the day; before this I spent most of the day resting and sleeping. Just worn out. I am a lot better now.

Use aseptic technique to prevent contamination of vials expecially if they are month long multi dose vials. If you have chemical sensitivities, get your injectable vitamins professionally compounded without preservatives which can cause allergy. Abrams Royal Pharmacy in Dallas works with out of state patients like me a reasonable cost.
Rotate injection sites. Most people are deficient in B 12. It protects the nervous system and is one of my most important treatments.
