Advice & Tips
it is sometimes hard for me to accept my illness and the burden it puts on my daily life. I am a member of CompassionAndChoices.org dealing with quality of life and the right to die under state law.
The only "burden" as this site would state it is gas money. I'd like to come every week like I used to but I cannot and sometimes I need it. In the beginning when switching from one therapist to another I was actually nervous and scared, but I shouldn't have been. She has shown me she really does care about me and gets excited about new things, good things.

Advice & Tips
If you have PTSD, it's very important to have a therapist who is up-to-date on the latest and most effective therapies. If not treated properly, it can worsen your PTSD in the long run. Having found a fantastic trauma therapist improved my life 100%. It took two years of VERY hard work on my part, but to finally have relief made it worth every minute. I feel SO much better.
Also, major life events (like getting cancer again) can trigger a PTSD flare. It helps to be aware of how you are feeling... and to get help right away. The flare can be tamped down.
