Advice & Tips
I hate having to walk with a walker at 54. But I have had a few bad falls, so I know I need it.

Advice & Tips
I was using a walker in the past to help me with mobility. I was able to stop using it after I went through the LSVT Big Exercise Program and was feeling great. Then, I found out that this intense exercising, made me tear the meniscus in both my knees, and I had arthroscopic knee surgery on both knees on 11/3/10. I am doing rehab with my LSVT therapist, who wants me to use my walker again.

I can still walk short distances and my walker has saved me from falls countless times. It allows me to still get a little exercise safely.

Advice & Tips
Most of the time I am using my walker when I know I am going to be out and about for more than ten minutes. Getting it in and out of the car can be awkward but its like having a mini trolley to put things in so beneficial in that respect.

Advice & Tips
I found it difficult to use because the public are not used to seeing this sort of equipment used by a young man (of 50!), it also promps people to ask whats wrong and sometimes I'm not too much in the mood to go into the ins and outs of ALS with a stranger in the street. I used it initially to avoid falling but the seat is fantastic, my falls used to be as a consequence of tripping but I am too slow for that now. But I now fall because my legs fold, probably because of fatigue, the rollator helps enormously in this regard. If I feel tired I sit down. Terrific!

Advice & Tips
It is difficult as a 48 year old man to get used to using a walker which is normaally associated with elderly OAP's. However, I realised that this is all in my head and and caan be banished by concentrating on the more ppositive effects of getting further and being more independent. Well worth it, and it keeps the wheelchair at bay for a wee bit longer. It is difficult for my children when they see me on it, and it saddens me that I can do little about that.

Advice & Tips
I have learned even walking with the walker causes major fatigue. My symptoms have not worsened since last flare; I've just become more aware. So I've moved on to a wheelchair, which is much less fatiguing.

Advice & Tips
My rolling walker has a seat when I get tired. My daughter-in-law made a tray that fits onto the seat with Velcro strips. I am able to carry things from one room to another with this walker. With the cane I don't have enough hands, or can't lift too heavy a weight. I would encourage everyone to use this walker even though it is not cheap. If it prevents just one fall, it is worth it. Iam much steadier on my feet and not so worried about a fall.
Cost
$200+ monthly

Advice & Tips
I use either the rolling walker or cane to get around all the time.

Advice & Tips
My disease got too bad and had to start using a power wheelchair full time! Too many falls! I did use the rollator walker for a long time and it kept me mobile. When my legs would not hold me up and I kept falling, I talked to my doctor and she said to go into the power wheelchair, so I did! Now this chair keeps me mobile!
