Advice & Tips
This medication worked in the beginning to calm my son, but eventually the efficacy reduced and we kept having to increase the dose. We were uncomfortable going too high so we've discontinued.
This treatment caused me too much nervousness, tremor when speaking, and fatigue.
Based on those side effects, I stopped treatment after discussion with my psychiatrist.
It works at keeping the psychotic features of schizoaffective dissorder under control, but my sex drive has been stuck in reverse gear since soon after I started it. I was on Abilify with better efficacy and no loss of libido, but Ryan White won't cover it anymore because of budget cuts, so I get the generic with more side effects.

Advice & Tips
For me, risperdal is not working nearly as well as Abilify, but Ryan White stopped covering Abilify.
MISDIAGNOSED WITH TOURETTE SYNDROME BY AN RXHAPPY DOCTOR. I absolutely abhorred this medication. I was not diagnosed with Schizophrenia or even in any psychiatric treatment at the time I was prescribed Risperdal, my doctor just liked to throw the most random as possible drugs at me. Risperdal left me awake for days, sleeping only for a few hours at a time when I did. I was such a zombie in class that my teachers called home multiple times to warn my Mom. It lessened my twitching (which isn't saying too terribly much) but also lessened my movement in general. I didn't think, didn't feel, didn't live. Hated this medication, should not be used for twitching disorders.
