My Pdoc directed me to take Rozerem every night like a vitamin and at the same time I was on a behavior modification program for good sleep hygiene. e.g. -bedtime and wake-up times consistent, relaxation practices before bed, etc. Currently, I fall asleep easily and average 5hrs a night which is an increase. It has regulated my sleep regime. It did take several weeks to start working.

Advice & Tips
I was having severe insomnia with the medications I am taking and with stress. I was originally on Sonata, which helped moderately, but I was having very vivid dreams that woke me up at night with tears streaming down my face. The doctor changed me to Rozerem 8mg and increased my Klonopin to 2mg at night, and my vivid dreams stopped, and I can now sleep 7-8 hours straight through the night.
Rozeram is great for putting me to sleep. One second I was awake and the next second I was asleep with no transition in between and then I would open my eyes and it would be morning. There was no morning 'hangover' and in the morining I was ready to face the world. I was getting more REM sleep when I was taking sleeping aids. This is non-narcotic so it is not addictive.

Be on the lookout for a residual drowsy/drugged feeling (which might be an issue only for patients who are hypersensitive to drugs which cross the blood/brain barrier, like me).
