This sleep med was prescribed for me many years ago by my neurologist and also my primary care doctor. I learned it is not for long term use. It was very tough to switch from this to the new med -- Trileptal- for sleep. I had to find the right dosage. I had found a psychiatrist that helped me manage my medication and this was the med she prescribed for me. I wonder a lot if there is anyone else that takes Trileptal for sleep.

SINCE I BECAME DEPENDANT ON IT -EVEN IF IT WAS ONLY SLIGHTLY WORKING---4MG WAS A LOT TO BE TAKING.... MY INTERNIST KNEW THIS ..AND OTHER DRS TOLD ME THIS ..YET NO ONE SUGGESTED I TRY TO WEAN MYSELF OFF UNTIL I TALKED W/ MY NEUROLOGIST ABT IT --HE SUGGESTED THAT I TRY AND TAKE IT DOWN A HALF MG EVERY WEEK.

It worked well for sleep. I wanted to take as few meds as possible and save my tolerance for down the road when I'll really need it to sleep. Didn't like not feeling clear headed the next day.

I only take Ativan when I feel a panic attack coming on that the Xanax doesn't control. Ativan really helps to calm me down but the nezt day, I have no energy.
