It grieves me v. much to hear all the negative press and judgementalism about Vicodin users. Of all the treatments I have tried, 1/2 a tab of Vicodin, taken about 4 times a day has been the absolute best treatment, with virtually zero side effects, and allows me to think clearly, and accomplish my studies as a full-time student, as well as work fulltime. Right now, I have had the ability to obtain this drug curtailed by the doubts of my physicians and worries that I am going to abuse it. I suppose this comes from real reports of so many other abusers. However, during the rare times when my pain level is very low, I feel no need to take it and do not take it. So that is my side of the story. If I did not use Vicodin, the most effective agent that allows me the freedom to be the most active in society, I would have spent many more days home from work in bed.

If taking this med for a long period of time and even though the med was never abused, it is living hell getting off of it. Please do it slowly and not cold turkey. I only take it now when I have an extremely high level of pain that the Tramadol does not get rid of.

I consider this pain medication on the low end of pain meds but I do not want anything stronger as I know there is some pain with fibro that will never go away no matter how many pain meds you take.

My doctor has prescribed 3 LOrtav a doy for me and that is about right for me now. I am in such pain I can hardly stand it. My pain makes me cry and the Lortab takes the edge off of that pain so that I am able to function at least semi-normally. With the hydrocodone there is not a hangover affect.

It is one of the few things that makes a difference in my pain. I am NOT addicted. I am sick of people telling me all their garbage about me taking it. I find I don't need it when I get injections of steroids. I take it because I have PAIN. That's it. I wish they would quit talking about how bad it is because the junkies and addicts steal it. I think there is a type of people who can't drink alcohol or medications. I would be a completely miserable person if I didn't have it for pain. I would rather use this than be taking something constantly for pain (Cymbalta or lyrica) those side effects really scare me.

Trying to get a physician to prescribe pain medications especially opiates, is really difficult. They don't understand that we use it only when we need it and we are not abusing it.

when a flare begins, taking 1/2 to 1 tablet will often allow me to feel well enough to muster the energy needed to care for my dog and personal care, including being able to wash my hair. (shampooing is one of the most difficult tasks, vacuuming the carpet is a close tie)

hydrocodone worked very well for my pain, which is a mix of fibro and chronic myofascial pain, along with an injury to my left shoulder from Oct 2009 (still not healed as of May 2010). It was necessary to stop take this drug in order to start LDN for Fibro pain. So far, I'm not certain that Fibro is my real diagnosis, as the muscle pain remains in my back, chest and arms. The all over aching of Fibro is still in the background, but is so much more quiet than anytime in the past 16 yrs.

I actually have a script for 1-2 tablets as needed. I find that this medicine "wake's me up" if I'm trying to sleep, so I try not to take it at night if I can avoid it.
