- I started taking Prozac after I had been taking Lexapro for over a year. The main reason was because it might have less affect on my sex drive than Lexapro did. My doctor accidentally put me on too high of a dose so it sent me into mania. We were able to get my mood back to stable by decreasing the dose. My psychiatrist told me that this drug class (SSRIs) is what she, and other psychiatrists use to treat OCD. Usually the drug treatment for OCD is an increase in dose of this class of antidepressants. However, with me that increased dose only sends me into mania
