Advice & Tips
I have found cognitive behavioral therapy to be a waste of time for me personally. That said I do think there are a LOT of people that would benefit from this type of therapy. I wasn't in it very long at all, maybe 2 months, and that just is not enough time to get any real gain from it, in my opinion. It was very hard for me to apply it to every day life, but I did learn a few coping techniques to apply, and I do that routinely, but I still falter somewhat. Overall, I think this is a good therapy, I think I just need to find a therapist that I feel more comfortable with, and where the therapy is not solely cognitive behavioral therapy. I hope this helps someone!

Advice & Tips
I consistently attended Psychotherapy sessions, for periods of usually multiple months at a time, then I would quit, then start again a couple months later. This has been the norm for about the last 4 years, with approximately 30-40% of that period being occupied by Weekly or Bi-weekly Psychotherapy sessions. I do not feel any benefit currently from Psychotherapy, I have noticed transient, minor benefits in the past, however. I should note, that I never strictly complied with my various Therapist(s) requests/suggestions, which may have reduced the potential benefits of Therapy.

I find it pointless - in sense of the medication. It doesn't work. It makes me sleep too much, or not enough. I'm scared to take the medicine.

Advice & Tips
I find myself strongly conflicted about my psychologist relationship to me. I am conflicted now about methodologies that he employed and whether or not his personal belief system influenced his rather non-attachment demeanor throughout the course of treatment. On the one hand I greatly respect his knowledge, but on the other his recommendations have continued to baffle and confuse me, as not once in my memory has he made a real referral for me to get help beyond just talk. He stated to me that we have tried everything and are going a different route, yet how could we have tried everything? He never once talked to me about diet, exercise, or made mention of programs that may help. Comments that were made to me like 'you have to get out of your bone box' are confusing to me, as don't we have to essentially premeditate in order to do any action unless it has become unconscious habit or we would essentially be stuck in some sort of delusion.. I feel bad that I want second opinions, like I am being fascist or something and I hate that feeling.. because I think he is a good person, I just don't know how to process all this.

Advice & Tips
I think maybe you should go to a psychiatrist and not a psych nurse for your meds
